neon.bev.click

Bev Stanton makes music under the project name neon.bev.click, working entirely with grooveboxes and pocket devices instead of DAWs. After winning a Pocket Operator drum machine at the NorthEast Electro-Music Festival, she shifted her entire creative practice toward improvising with hardware, using an MC-303 groovebox from the late 90s as the core of her rig. The work is tactile and live in a way computer-based production can't match... performing DAWless keeps her in that early, inspired part of the creative process rather than in endless tweaking.

Based in the DC area, Stanton has been part of the electronics and electronica scene for years, with several concurrent projects. She's also behind Arthur Loves Plastic, the ukulele-driven Sad Veiled Bride, the shoegaze-influenced Loopurr, and the duo Novparolo with Winston Psmith. She's won over a dozen Washington Area Music Awards in the Electronica category and is profiled in Pink Noises: Women in Electronic Music and Sound alongside artists like Anne Lockwood and Pauline Oliveros.

With neon.bev.click, the approach is "impulsive dawlessness." Recent releases include the album THAWless (March 2026) and Beginning of the End (November 2025), both available on Bandcamp. The sound is swirling, beat-driven, emotionally dense... grooves that feel improvised and urgent rather than perfected.
